The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) is a large and colorful butterfly commonly found in forests, gardens, meadows, and woodland edges throughout eastern North America.
Recognizable by its bright yellow wings with bold black stripes, blue and orange markings near the hindwings, and graceful flight, it is one of the most familiar butterflies in the region. Adults feed primarily on flower nectar, while caterpillars feed on the leaves of various trees and shrubs.
Eastern Tiger Swallowtails are strong fliers and are often seen gliding through open areas in search of food, mates, and suitable host plants.
