Gray Catbird

The Gray Catbird (Dumetella carolinensis) is a medium-sized songbird commonly found in thickets, forest edges, gardens, and shrubby habitats throughout much of North America.

Recognizable by its slate-gray plumage, black cap, and rusty undertail coverts, it is often heard delivering a variety of whistles, songs, and its distinctive cat-like mewing call. Its diet consists primarily of insects, berries, and other fruits, making it an important contributor to seed dispersal.

Gray Catbirds are curious and active birds that spend much of their time moving through dense vegetation in search of food and shelter.
