Moths

Luna Moth

The Luna Moth (Actias luna) is a large and striking moth commonly found in deciduous forests throughout eastern North America.

Recognizable by its pale green wings, long trailing hindwing tails, and distinctive eyespots, it is one of the most iconic moth species in the region. Adult Luna Moths do not feed and rely entirely on energy reserves accumulated during their caterpillar stage. Active primarily at night, they are attracted to lights and spend their brief adult lives seeking mates and reproducing.

Their delicate appearance and unique coloration make them one of the most recognizable members of the giant silk moth family.
